The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State on Wednesday successfully conducted its ward congress across the 326 wards, with party members turning out in large numbers to elect new ward executives.
The exercise, which formed part of the party’s nationwide ward congress, was largely peaceful and orderly, with enthusiastic participation recorded across the state’s 21 local government areas.
From major towns to rural communities, party faithful came out en masse to take part in the process, signalling renewed grassroots mobilisation ahead of future political contests.
Observers described the impressive turnout and orderly conduct as a positive development for the party in a state traditionally dominated by opposition parties.
Secretary of the Ward Congress Committee, Israel Michael Emeka, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, describing the exercise as successful despite minor logistical issues.
“The congresses in Anambra were, by and large, a success. Beyond a few challenges on logistics, which are to be expected in an exercise of this magnitude, what we witnessed across the wards was a peaceful, orderly, and democratic process.
“I want to commend Ndi Anambra for their hospitality and maturity. They conducted themselves in a manner that reflects well on the party and on the good people of Anambra State,” Emeka said.
Also speaking, the Anambra State APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, commended the Ward Congress Committee and party members for ensuring a smooth and transparent process.
“I want to commend the Ward Congress Committee for a job well done,” Ejidike said. “They worked tirelessly to ensure that this exercise was conducted peacefully and transparently, and the results speak for themselves.
“The ward congress has demonstrated that the APC in Anambra State is a united, vibrant, and democratic party ready to take on any political challenge.”
Ejidike also appreciated the party faithful for their patience, commitment, and orderly conduct, noting that their participation underscored the party’s determination to strengthen its grassroots.
The Anambra exercise was part of the APC’s nationwide ward congress aimed at repositioning the party and consolidating its base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
