The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has said the party is more united than ever.
Adamu reiterated that there is no fight in the party noting that party is more committed in carrying every member of the party along ” After four hours of deliberation, we are more united that we have ever been, it is not my job as chairman to tell you the outcome of the meeting”.
Speaking on zoning, Senator Adamu said the meeting was not about zoning stressing that everyone concern will be consulted including the president elect on how best to tackle the issue.
He said: ” When we will do the zoning meeting, we will not just go alone as a party. The zoning is to take along the president- elect Senator Ahmed Tinubu. He travelled after the election and he came back only last week and we have to carry him along.
” We cannot stop those who are ambitious on Zonal interest or even individual interest. And as long as that is there, we have to find a persuasive way, persuasive manner of reaching some level of consensus. That is what we are working on. It’s not a one day Affair”, he said.
Also addressing journalists shortly after the meeting, the National Publicity Secretary, NPS, of the party Barr. Felix Morka stated that amongst all of the issues discussed at the meeting, he said they look at some internal and domestic house keeping matters with one of their colleague who has expressed his concerns about something he believes the party should be doing right.
Morka aaid: ” We deliberated completely about it. And as we speak, a committee that was set up to complete that conversation is in progress right now. So, there is a meeting that is going on that I am supposed to be part of to fully ramif that discussion and offer final recommendations on that subject. But I am happy to report as the chairman just indicated.
” The party stands completely united behind thr leadership of his excellency, the National Chairman of our party. And we are all standing together. Our colleague who has concern, they are being looked into. And I think I due course, we will have reasons the very specific conclusions of those discussions”, he noted.
On why is the party wasting time on the issue of zoning, the NPS said there is nothing like wasting of time because there is no timeline to do so.
According to him: ” We are not wasting time. There is no timeline to do so. The zoning is something that the party does. It is a mechanism by which the party is able to make decisions and afford those who are interested in competing for power in the leadership of the 10th National Assembly to do so with a minimum rift and rancour. To do so peacefully and seamlessly.
” So there is no timeline to that. We are not in hurry. We want to do it right. The chairman just said this required very exhaustive consultation not just of the leadership of the party but also of those who are aspiring. So, that whatever the party comes up with, by way of formula will be acceptable with minimum friction. It is important that the consultation is done and it done properly. That is what is going on right now”, he stated
Salihu Mustapha, National Vice Chairman, North East speaking with journalists also narrated that the National Vice Chairman, North West, Salihu Lukman has withdrawn all his suits in the court and he is willing to laid the issues to rest.
He said: ” We are here to intimate you with the proceedings we had after the national working committee. We have intimate and consulted with our brother,, the National Vice Chairman North West, comrade Salihu Lukman on issues you are aware of, like the legal he treated and some other publications credited to him. We are able to reached the resolution that this suit is going to be withdrawn and unconditionally. He has rendered his own apology for any seeming embarrassment his suit and publication may have caused.
“And we want to affirm the fact that we are one indivisible committee. We will continue to work together and also try to see that we achieve all the inspiration or the ideal working committee or the ideal party. We will research through the instrumentality of the party within because parties are not run in the the pages of Newspaper, neither are they run on the screens of television but they are being run administratively and we will continue to do that as one house.
“Also we want to reiterate the fact that this party will not condone indiscipline where by one or two people of one organ that is not qualified will just sit and say they have suspended or expel one of our member.
” A case study of what happened in the south- south. This party will not tolerate it and we are looking into investigating the matter and we will ensure that we bring to book individuals or organ that brought this kind of irregularities without following the our constitution”, he noted.
