APC, PDP trade words over Ayade’s defection

The Cross River State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party have renewed their war of words over the defection of the State governor Professor Ben Ayade.

The renewed verbal hostilities follow a thanksgiving service organized in honor of the Senator representing Cross River North in the National Assembly Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe.

The APC in the state in a release signed by its Erasmus Ekpang, State Publicity Secretary-Elect faulted the statement made by the leader of the PDP in the state, Liyel Imoke.

The party said, “As a transiting Governor, Imoke’s role was just natural concomitant, a last-minute attempt at saving his face and nothing more.

“He should stop fanning his ego that he made Ayade Governor, and stop misleading Cross Riverians on his stake, as even unfolding events in his party, shows that the PDP does not take him seriously”, he said.

However, the PDP in it’s a reaction by Prince Mike Ojisi, State Publicity Secretary said ingratitude is a sin and called in the state governor to seek God’s forgiveness.

“Let us remind Gov. Ayade that Ingratitude is a sin and he has a life history of never appreciating those who have helped to lift him from the life of excruciating poverty to the commanding heights of power where he never dreamed possible and so is yet to reconcile himself with.

“We warn him again to be careful because the serial political misadventures that have visited him in the last one year are indicative that God is very unhappy with him. We join him to pray for God’s forgiveness”, he said.

He added that the Peoples Democratic Party reiterate that they are very peaceful and large enough to accommodate every progress-minded individual who is desirous of getting covered under our big umbrella.

He also said they will continue to open their arms wide to receive more returnees into their fold as indications in Cross River North Senatorial district point to a follow-up a tsunami that will finally signal the death knell in the coffin of the APC in Cross River State.
