The Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) Women Mobilisation Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it has activated women across 176,846 communities as part of its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Directorate said women’s groups in Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kwara, Abia, Rivers and other states had intensified community meetings and sensitisation activities over the past month.
It said the structure was designed to establish grassroots mobilisers who would maintain contact with households and communities while encouraging eligible citizens to participate in the electoral process.
The Director of Women Mobilisation, Dr Betta Edu, working under the guidance of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, urged women to strengthen grassroots engagement and communicate government programmes and policies within their communities.
The Directorate said activities had been held in Afaka Ward in Kaduna, Kemanji Ward in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara, Angwa-Katsinawa and Daura in Katsina, Dutse in Jigawa and communities in Abia and Rivers states.
According to the Directorate, the mobilisation goes beyond campaign rallies and election-day activities, focusing also on helping women understand government programmes, identify opportunities and access relevant interventions.
It said the initiative would provide information on programmes relating to enterprise development, agriculture, energy, transportation and community development.
Edu said the Directorate would continue to promote practical information-sharing on initiatives and reforms that could affect household incomes, businesses and livelihoods.
The Directorate also highlighted the Renewed Hope Initiative programmes and the planned expansion of the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme as areas where women could benefit.
It said improved access to affordable transportation could assist women who depend on public transport to reach markets, farms, workplaces and schools.
The mobilisation structure, according to the Directorate, would maintain contact with communities while communicating information about government programmes and what it described as achievements of the Tinubu administration.
The campaign is also expected to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Directorate said the nationwide engagement would continue, with women’s groups expected to deepen community-level contacts and expand the flow of information about government initiatives.
It said the grassroots structure would provide a platform for women to engage implementing institutions and understand their eligibility for available interventions.
The mobilisation comes amid growing political activity by parties and support groups as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
