Artisan arrested for malicious damage

A 43-year-old artisan, John Mark, on Monday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ court for alleged malicious damage.

The police charged Mark, whose residential address was not given with two counts of willful damage and breach of peace.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecution counsel, Sgt. Kenrich Nomayo, told the court that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by threatening to kill Mr Oladipupo Ojo.

Chief Magistrate O.O. Fajana admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Fajana ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must produce evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until April 8 for mention.
