
An Artisan, Umar Haruna, was on Thursday docked in a Gwagwalada Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing building materials worth N122,200.
The police charged Haruna, who resides in Gwagwalada, FCT, with criminal breach of trust, cheating, and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Dabo Yakubu told the court that the complainant, Frmas Adebusuyi, of Saburi District dei-dei, Abuja reported the matter at the Gwagwalada Police station on July 4.
Dabo said that the complainant, sometime in April, gave the defendant a Plaster of Paris (POP) job for his parlour, dining, kitchen, and kitchen veranda and paid N182, 000 to him to round up the job.
He said that the defendant did not complete the job and stole the remaining bags of cement, fiber, and plumbing pipes valued at N50, 000.
The prosecutor said that the offense contravened the provisions of sections 312, 322, and 287 of the Penal Code.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate Aliyu Shafa admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
Shafa adjourned the matter until Oct. 18 for a hearing.
