ASUU: NLC issues two-week ultimatum to FG

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Lagos chapter has issued a two-week ultimatum to the Federal Government over the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) or risk another #endsars protest.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Lagos chairperson of the NLC, Mrs Agnes Sessy on Tuesday in Ikeja, Lagos state.

She said: “If the Federal Government does not resolve the strike within two weeks, there would be nationwide mass protest. In fact, the ENDSARS protest would be a child’s play.”

The Nigeria Labour Congress on Tuesday kickstarted its planned solidarity protest in support of the Academic staff union of university.

The planned protest is ongoing in different parts of the country which has in attendance, labour members, civil society and University unions which is aimed at imploring the federal government to meet the demands of the striking lecturers.

Operatives of the Nigerian police force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, others are providing security to prevent a security breach or attack on the protesters.

Recall that the NLC had announced a planned protest slated to hold July 26th and 27th 2022.
