The Federal Government yesterday reconstituted a team to renegotiate the 2009 agreements it entered with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Performing the ceremony yesterday, the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, said there was the need to speedily end all outstanding issues in the 2009 agreements.
This, according to the minister, is to achieve the desired industrial peace on the nation’s university campuses.
Adamu disclosed this in Abuja in a statement by the ministry’s Director of Press, Mr Ben Goong.
The chairman of the reconstituted 2009 FGN/University-Based Unions Agreements Re-negotiation Team is an emeritus professor, Nimi Briggs, who is also the pro-chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo.
Members are the Pro-chancellor of Federal University, Wukari, Lawrence Ngbale (North-East) and Pro-Chancellor, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Prof Funmi Togunu-Bickersteth (South-West).

Others are the Pro-Chancellors of Federal University, Lokoja, Senator Chris Adighije (South-East); Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof Olu Obafemi (North-Central); Kano State University of Science and Technology as a member, Prof Zubairu Iliyasu (North-West) and Niger Delta University (NDU), Matthew Seiyefa (South-South).
According to the minister, the new team will be inaugurated on Monday.
He, therefore, called on all advisers and observers in the Federal Government and university-based Unions 2009 Agreements Re-negotiation Team to attend the inauguration.
