The Lagos State Government has filed a case of involuntary manslaughter against Lagos-based auto dealer, Ikechukwu Ogbonna, a car dealer, before the High Court of Lagos, Ikeja.
Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, allegedly killed his wife, Abimbola, who died in a fire incident at their Lekki residence in October 2022.
The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) filed a case of involuntary manslaughter against Ogbonna before the High Court of Lagos, Ikeja.

According to the DPP, Ogbonna was responsible for his wife’s death, which was contrary to Section 229 of the Criminal Law of Lagos.
Ogbonna, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and the trial has commenced before Justice Modupe Nicole-Clay.
It was gathered that the late Abimbola had filed a petition against her husband before her death at the Ajah Police Station.
In the petition, she accused him of attempted murder, a threat to life, domestic violence and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace.
DSP Fetuga Olatunji, who testified as a prosecution witness, said that he was directed by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 to arrest Ogbonna and transfer him to the zonal headquarters.
He said that he obtained a statement from Abimbola’s mother because she was not in good health.
However, he said that two days later, he received information that Abimbola had died in a fire outbreak at her home.
He said that the AIG then ordered that the case should be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for proper investigation.
