Dawodu stated this during Tuesday’s signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a group of PWDs in Abuja.
The lawmaker, who advocated for the unfettered inclusion of PWs in social activities, including politics, said the PWD Act was being amended.
“The law prescribes no discrimination against PWDs. It prescribes that five per cent of them should constitute the employees in any employment process,” he said.
Dawodu expressed his committee’s willingness to ensure tax rebate provision for PWDs to guarantee their social protection.
Also speaking, spokesman for the PWDs, Mr. Valentine Ugochukwu, thanked the committee for prioritizing their welfare.
According to Ugochukwu, PWDs have the potential to rise above pity or social vulnerability.
He reeled out various projects and programmes by the PWDs to address some of the members’ challenges.
