Bandits Release Zamfara Kidnapped Judges After N2m Ransom

The two Zamfara Sharia court judges, kidnapped by bandits about two months ago have been released after paying two million naira ramson.

The two judges, Salihu Abdullahi and Shafi,u Jangebe who were attending lectures at Annahada University, Maradi, Niger Republic were abducted on their way back home to Zamfara.

The bandits earlier requested for N10 million from each Judge, but the money could not raised by the families of the kidnapped Judges.

After taking long time without positive response from the families on the ramson of N20 million naira, the bandits finally called their relations and asked them to bring whatever they could afford.

The families of the two Judges were able to raise two million naira.

Speaking to journalists, a brother to one of the released judges, Malam Hassan Samaru said ” when the bandits realized that we could not meet their demand of N20m, they finally called us and told us to bring whatever we have”.

Samaru maintained that, “We paid two million for the two judges and they were released.

He however said seven other people who were also in captivity along with the two judges had also paid various sums of money and were released.
