Skambo Morisson, the chairman of, Kaduna State basketball association, on Monday, said the Federal Ministry of Sports and the Basketball Federation needed to do the right things that would enhance the development of the game in the country.
He said that they came for the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) athletes and technical representative election but “we were shocked to see that nothing was happening.
“We came for the election and we are expecting like what we saw in other Federations already having their own athletes and coaches representative elections, we just discovered that there were no places prepared for us.
“We went to the secretariat and were told that some issues have to be settled, especially the rules of using guidelines in the constitution.
“But we are still wondering why they gave us a date for the election for today and the election is not holding.
“What we need to do to get the right things done, we need the right thing to see a constitution that has been retrieved by Nigerians the stakeholders of basketball,” he said.
According to him, they want to have a document that shows that FIBA has approved our own constitution.
“This is what we want – either we have the right constitution or I don’t think there is an election that will be very credible here again.

“I think the ministry should do the right thing. They are habitats. They are the ones in between the Federation and the people and the stakeholders.
“They control the sports, we don’t have the Federation and it’s been dissolved and there is nothing called Basketball Federation,” he said.
The NBBF athletes and technical representative election were cancelled at package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
The new date for the election is not yet known.
