Bauchi works, housing sector gulps lion share with N43.5bn – Commissioner

The Bauchi state government has earmarked N43.5billion to the Ministry of Works and Housing in the 2022 budget proposals, representing 23.3 percent of the total estimates of N195.3billion.

Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, the Commissioner for budget and economic planning, stated this while giving the breakdown of the budget in Bauchi, on Thursday.

He said that the education sector received an allocation of N39.9 billion representing 15.3 percent of the total budget, while the Health sector was allocated N20.5billion.

Debt servicing was allocated N15.6billion, while N8billion was for the payment of pensions and gratuities of retired civil servants.

The Commissioner assured that government would strive to ensure timely and appropriate implementation of the budget with ‘precision, prudence, and accountability.

N10bn allocated for 2021 budget

He explained that the budget would begin with an opening balance of N15.8 billion by January 2022, saying that the budget was that of consolidation and ongoing commitments.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state Gov. Bala Mohammed recently presented the 2022 budget proposals before the state House of Assembly. (NAN)
