
The Bayelsa government on Saturday expressed satisfaction with the progress of ongoing projects across the eight local government areas of the state.
The Chairman of the Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Ebiye Tarabina, gave the commendation during while inspecting some of projects.
At the Sagbama-Ekeremor Road project, Tarabina lauded the contractor, Setraco, for the pace of work.
He reiterated the commitment of Gov. Douye Diri to fulfil his electoral promises, pointing out that the administration was determined to deliver quality projects that would stand the test of time.
The firm`s Project Manager, Mr Julien Alhelou, said the four bridges on the road would be accessible by January 2022.
At the Yenagoa-Oporoma Road project, Tarabina lauded the contactor, CCECC for the milestones recorded.
He said when completed, the road would open the frontiers of development to the rural dwellers.
The firm’s project manager, Mr P. M. Lee, said 20km out of 35km of the road have been cleared.
He further explained that 20km sand stabilisation have been achieved, while the remaining two kilometres that lead to Angiama river would be cleared shortly.
The chairman also inspected the Glory Drive to Government House and the Igbogene-AIT Outer Ring Road projects.
On Igbogene-AIT Outer Ring Road, the project manager, said it would be completed before the second anniversary of the present administration on Feb. 14, 2022.
Earlier, also inspected some completed and ongoing internal roads projects in Yenagoa metropolis.
They included St. John’s Primary School Road, Ogbogoro, the ongoing Doncont Street, Amarata, the Amalala Close, off Bakery Road, Azikoro town, Rev. Asingba Road, behind First Banizue-Gene.
Also inspected were the ongoing Akoi Street, off Barrath Road, Yenizue-Gene, the completed Dimieari Street also off Barrath Road in Biogbolo.
The team also inspected the ongoing Egili Road, Yenizue-Epie Road, the completed Nengi road, off Saipem, Opolo, the completed Akali road, Etegwe, the completed road off Okutukutu School Road, Okutukutu.
He urged contractors to provide appropriate drains for the channeling of water along the roads, as well as erect sign post at project sites for easy identification of the projects as stated in the contract agreement.
He urged all contractors handling projects in the state to execute their jobs according to specifications, noting that the directorate would not hesitate to sanction and blacklist defaulters. (NAN)
