The Benue State Police Command has paraded 46 suspects allegedly linked to Tuesday’s blockade of the convoy of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, along the Makurdi-Gboko federal highway.
The Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, disclosed this in Makurdi, saying investigations were continuing and that some key youth leaders connected with the incident were being tracked.
Nwadiogbu warned that the command would not tolerate political intolerance, violence or other acts capable of disrupting campaigns as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The incident occurred during Obi’s visit to Benue for campaign activities and a planned visit to Yelewata community, where he was scheduled to meet victims and sympathise with families affected by the June 2025 attacks.
