Benue students protest killing of final-year colleague by police

The killing of Emmanuella Ahenjir, a 23-year-old final-year student of the Federal University, Wukari, Benue State by some unidentified police officers has caused a protest in the state.
It was reported last Friday that the trigger-happy officers shot Ahenjir at the Wurukum roundabout while riding in a vehicle.
Since the victim’s death, protests have erupted in different parts of the state, while the largest one was led by prominent gender rights activist, Ukan Kurugh.
The demonstrators gathered in large numbers at the Wurukum roundabout, wielding placards with inscriptions such as “End Police Brutality” and “Justice for Emmanuella.”
The protesters are demanding a thorough investigation and immediate action from the authorities.
