The National Assembly is currently working on a bill that will make the teaching of the Nigeria Constitution compulsory in schools in the country and will be passed into law soon, Professor Julius Inhonvbere told Journalists during an interactive session with stakeholders in Abuja on Tuesday.
House of Representatives Members of the Committee on Basic Education & Services under the Chairmanship, Professor Inhonvbere held an interactive session with stakeholders on core issues bordering on the Nation’s Educational System.
The discussion was centered on the following areas especially Bill’s which are before the House for consideration .
A Bill for an Act to make it compulsory for All Schools to teach the Nigerian Constitution as a subject in Schools and for related matters.
Compulsory Healthcare for Akwa Ibom Rape Victims
A Bill for an Act to provide for the compulsory teaching of security and intelligence studies in syllabuses of Secondary Schools in Nigeria and for related matters, 2019.
A Bill for an act to amend the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council ACT. CAP N105 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004 and related matters.
Inhonvbere said the Lawmakers are committed to ensuring the protection of educational system and values in Nigeria
