The House of Representatives Chairman, Committee on Basic Education and Services, Professor Julius Ihonvbere weekend called on Nigerians to be patriotic.
Professor Ihonvbere made the call at the Abuja Book Exhibition tagged “Bringing back the reading culture” held at Sharon Ultimate Hotels Abuja to mark the end of the three day event.

Welcoming Hon. Ihonvbere to the occasion, the organizer said, the purpose of the book fair was to rekindle the lost reading culture in the country, hence the major target are the younger Nigerians.
The lawmaker as the Special Guest of Honourwhile delivering his speech, blamed the present state of the nation on leadership failure as unemployment, lawlessness, embezzlement, insecurity, endless killings and bloodletting have continued unabated.
“I want to admonish young Nigerians to be patriotic citizens, listen to advice from parents and teachers, avoid people that will destroy their future, have self confidence, tell the truth at all times, work hard and have faith in God. The hope of this nation and expected change is in the younger generation and they must take up the challenge to build a new Nigeria”.
Prof. Ihonvbere, further encouraged the organisers and other guests present, to support the younger generation to make the desired change possible, stating that the older generation have failed the nation completely and can only support the new generation to redeem our country again.
