Borno Govt to establish road marshal on reckless driving

Borno State Government said it would establish road marshals to curtail the excesses of motorists, particularly tricyclists in Maiduguri.

The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Babakura Abba-Jato, disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists on Thursday in Maiduguri.

Abba-Jato said that the decision was taken at the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Gov. Babagana Zulum.

The commissioner said the marshals would assist in controlling traffic and instilling discipline in commercial tricyclists.

According to him, the excesses of the cyclists are disturbing, particularly during ceremonies, and government will not allow that to continue.

He said that the state government also approved the sum of two billion naira for various projects, including rural roads, rehabilitation of the fish market and earth dams to enhance irrigation farming.
