Senator Godswill Akpabio, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged the Senate President.
Akpabio was sworn in as the Senate President of the 10th assembly after polling 63 votes to defeat his rival, former Zamfara governor, AbdulAziz Yari, who polled 46 votes.
Following his emergence, Akpabio took his oath of office and was sworn in.
Senator Akpabio is a former governor of Akwa-Ibom state and a former minister for Niger Delta Affairs from 2019 to 2022 under the administration of president Muhammed Buhari.
