Second Republic lawmaker, Dr Junaid Mohammed is dead. He was 73.

An outspoken social crusader, Dr Junaid has been a notable critic of President Muhammadu Buhari since 2015, when the latter assumed office.

He was said to have died in Kano after a brief illness.

Sympathisers, including family members, close friends and associates have been trooping to his residence since the sad news broke late last night.

He is expected to be buried today in accordance with Islamic traditions.
