Queen Elizabeth II of England has died at the age of 96.
Her death was announced by the Buckingham Palace in a terse statement posted on its Twitter page.
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the statement read.
