Lawan told the senate INEC committee headed by Senator Kabiru Gaya to conclude the screening and report back to the red chamber at plenary in four weeks.

Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party members in the red chamber halted the process had paused the screening after President Buhari sent the names for confirmation eight months ago.

They had protested against the idea of appointing Onochie, a President’s aide and card-carrying members of the All Progressives Congress as an INEC Commissioner.

Onochie, if confirmed by the Senate, will represent Delta State on the board of the commission.
