Unknown gunmen early hours of Monday allegedly invaded two villages in Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State and killed four youths.
National President of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA) Mr Robbert Ashi, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Jos, said three young persons were ambushed by suspected Fulani herdsmen and killed between Jebbu Bassa and Rikwechongu village while another person was killed at Zirshe village Monday morning and some houses burnt including food barns.
In his words “Yesterday night I was informed of attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen who ambushed and killed three of our youth returning back from Jebbu Bassa to Rikwechongu village close to the School of Accountancy while at the early hours of this morning (Monday) the Fulani herdsmen also attacked Zirshe village and killed one person, burnt several houses including food barns where the villagers had kept their recently harvested produce. This action is condemnable coming at the time our people are preaching peace in the land,” he said.
Ashi described the attacks as unfortunate and called on the security agencies to arrest the attackers whom he said are suspected Fulani herdsmen.

It could be recalled that Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong recently said he will no longer tolerate and accept the cliché “unknown gunmen”, used to describe killers after they have perpetrated heinous crimes.
He also directed security agencies that the killers must be fished out at all costs because Government will no longer take excuses of “unknown gunmen” who kill and maim at will”.
Lalong also signed into law the anti-kidnapping, anti-land grabbing, cultism and other anti-violence related matters bill passed by the State House of Assembly.
The Governor said the law was long overdue because of the increase in kidnapping, land grabbing and other violent crimes within the state.
He said: “As a responsible government, we cannot fold our arms to see people being terrorized by criminals who are clearly out to cause mayhem. This new law will deal with anyone caught in the act and I urge security agencies to be on their toes and ensure that culprits are apprehended and made to face the law
Meanwhile efforts to get the Spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command proved abortive before sending this report.
