British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery has commended the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for ‘very noticeable infrastructure development in Abuja,’ especially with the increasing network of interconnecting roads.
The ambassador made the comment during a courtesy visit on the minister in his office.
Richard recalled that at their last meeting in 2024, the minister had mentioned this as priority.
He said the increasing network of roads is good for business in the FCT. He expressed willingness of the High Commission to work with the FCT administration wherever possible. In his response, Wike said the spate of infrastructure development is made possible by President’s Tinubu commitment to improve the FCT. He mentioned that his recent trip to China was to finalise talks on a MoU meant to improve water supply to the FCT, especially on the satellite towns. The President had signed the MoU last year.
The minister said the plan is to reduce concentration in the city center by improving all forms of infrastructure in the satellite towns
He said the security situation has improved, but there are efforts to improve it further to make the FCT safe for residents and visitors.
