British lawmakers concerned over killings, report Buhari to Commonwealth
Some British members of Parliament are concerned about unabated violence in Nigeria and ss a result of the widespread violence in Nigeria going unchecked, these British lawmakers have reported President Buhari to the Commonwealth.
The lawmakers – Caroline Cox, David Alton, Jin Shannon, Helena Kennedy, Lord Williams, Lord Carey, Dr Christopher Cocksworth, Phillip Mounstephen, Lord Stoddart, Lord Anderson, Lord Cormack, Sir Geoffrey Nice QC, Ayo Adedoin, Ewelina Ochab, Mervyn Thomas, Dr Khataza Gondwe, Nevile Kyrte-Smith, Dr John Eibiner and Ann Buwalda- wrote to the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland QC, stating that violence continues to spread even through the armed forces.
They also state that this goes contrary to the commonwealth charter hence the need to end impunity related to human rights.
They asked that the Secretary-General respond on behalf of the Commonwealth and raise urgent concerns with the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group.
