Burna Boy under fire over comment on Afrobeats

Grammy-award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats artiste, Damini Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy has come under fire over his comments on afrobeats.

A X user, @_AsiwajuLerry, wrote, “Dear Burna boy, you don’t need to downplay other people’s crafts just because you sampled your way to the top.”

Another user, @mrfunny___, said, “Burna boy needs to apologize to Africans for talking down on Afrobeats.”

@taadelodun, wrote, “Burna got to the top telling a typical Nigerian story, now he is saying this cos he his making new friends? I am just shocked!

“An 18 year old in the trenches will sit you down and give you a proper experienced lecture. Nigerians respect and adore you, Burna! Don’t send this back.

“Our artists have tonnes of real and personal experience, and they are telling our story!”

Another X user, @Swagger_jeffrey, said, “Burna that thief song for a living. Same Burna talking about afrobeat having zero substance …all your Hit songs are sample…we get that you don’t have originality and your songs have zero substance

“But Wizkid didn’t sing ojuelegba for afrobeat to be disrespected like this.”
