
A businessman, Godwin Onogwu, 36, on Monday appeared in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwlada, FCT, for allegedly receiving stolen blocks worth N920,000.
The police charged Onogwu, who lives in Gwagwalada with receiving stolen property.
The Prosecution Counsel, Sunday Nyako, told the court that the complainant, Eje Ogbu, reported the matter at the police station on May 13.
Nyako said that the defendant between January and May 2021 bought 4,000 pieces of stolen blocks from one Ikenna Oha and ”Samuel”.
He said that Oha and Samuel trespassed into the complainant’s building site and stole building blocks worth N920,000
The prosecutor said the offense contravened the provisions of Section 317 of the Penal Code.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate Aliyu Shafa admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
Shafa ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must provide means of identification to the court.
He adjourned the case until Aug. 11 for a hearing.
