In a strategic move to revitalise Cross River State’s tourism industry, Governor Bassey Otu has announced the completion of the redesign phase of the iconic Obudu Ranch Resort, with full-scale reconstruction scheduled to begin shortly.
The redesign, aimed at transforming the once-renowned destination into a world-class eco-tourism hub, is part of the governor’s broader agenda to diversify the state’s economy and reposition it as a prime tourism and investment hotspot in Nigeria.
Governor Otu’s Special Adviser on the Obudu Ranch Resort, Mr Sunday Michael, said the renewed focus on the resort aligns with the administration’s vision of unlocking the tourism potential of the state.
“This project is a testament to Governor Otu’s unwavering commitment to repositioning Cross River as a global destination for eco-tourism,” Michael stated. “The redesigned resort will offer state-of-the-art facilities that highlight the area’s stunning natural landscape and cultural richness.”
The reconstruction is expected to generate employment opportunities, boost local enterprises, and significantly increase internally generated revenue.
Upon completion, the Obudu Ranch Resort is anticipated to attract both local and international tourists, restoring the resort’s legacy as one of Africa’s premier mountain retreats.
Otu’s tourism master plan also includes partnerships with private investors to ensure sustainable development and effective long-term management of the resort.
The Obudu Ranch Resort, perched on the Obudu Plateau in northern Cross River, was once a top destination for tourists due to its temperate climate, cable cars, and scenic beauty.
The new design aims to modernise these features while preserving the ecological integrity of the site.
With the reconstruction set to begin, Cross River State is gearing up to reclaim its place on the global tourism map.
