The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has expressed grief over the death of Reverend William Okoye, founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission, describing him as a devoted church leader whose impact extended across the Christian community and national service.
In a condolence message issued on Thursday, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, sympathised with the late cleric’s wife, Toyin Okoye, his children, members of the All Christians Fellowship Mission and Christians across the country over the loss.
Okoh said the late minister dedicated his life to spreading the gospel, mentoring Christian leaders and promoting unity within the church, noting that his contributions went far beyond the ministry he founded.
According to him, Okoye served the Christian community in several leadership positions, including as Chairman of CAN in the Federal Capital Territory, Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, FCT chapter, and later as CAN’s National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare.
“He gave selfless service to the body of Christ and remained committed to strengthening the church’s voice on matters affecting both Christians and the wider society,” the CAN president said.
The association also highlighted the late cleric’s contributions to national development through various public assignments.
Okoh recalled that Okoye served on the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, participated in the National Political Reform Conference, was a member of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, and served as chaplain to two Nigerian presidents as well as head of the Aso Rock Villa Chapel.
He said the cleric’s commitment to public service reflected his belief that Christian values should positively influence governance and national development.
Describing Okoye as a humble and dependable leader, the CAN president said he was widely respected for his wisdom, calm disposition and willingness to offer guidance whenever needed.
“He remained passionate about the unity of the church and consistently made himself available to support the Christian community. His wise counsel, unwavering dedication and commitment to advancing God’s kingdom will be sorely missed,” Okoh stated.
CAN prayed for God’s comfort for the bereaved family and the Christian community, while urging believers to draw inspiration from the late cleric’s enduring legacy of faith, leadership and service.
