Osun governor, Adeleke dumps PDP for Accord Party

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday announced the official unveiling of the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.

Speaking during the event, which held in Osogbo, the governor disclosed that he had formally joined the Accord Party on November 6, 2025, after weeks of consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state.

He said the move was aimed at securing a second term in office and ensuring continuity in his administration’s delivery of good governance.

Adeleke noted that residents of Osun State were already aware of the circumstances surrounding his decision, adding that his administration remained committed to completing ongoing developmental projects and sustaining the widely applauded governance reforms recorded so far.

According to him, the choice of the Accord Party was informed by its core philosophy of welfarism, which aligns with his government’s prioritisation of citizens’ and workers’ welfare.

“I have been fascinated by the philosophy of this great party,” Adeleke said, adding that the primary essence of government is the welfare and well-being of the people.

The governor welcomed the national leadership of the Accord Party to the state, stressing that both parties were now united in purpose and progress.

Adeleke urged party members and supporters to remain united as preparations intensify ahead of the 2026 polls, emphasising the need for inclusive leadership and collective efforts to secure victory.

“Our party, the Accord Party, is here to take over Osun governance and sustain the delivery of good governance in our dear state,” he declared.
