Days after the launch of the e-naira wallet by the Federal Government of Nigeria, more controversies have continued to arise owing to the unpreparedness of the apex bank before rolling out the programme.
Recall that millions of people who visited the website to log on to the e-Naira app Tuesday and Wednesday were disappointed due to the sudden disappearance of the app at the Google play store to the bewilderment of internet users.
The CBN however, Thursday, confirmed that the eNaira speed wallet application, which was pulled down from the Google Play store, is back online after 24 hours.
The app disappeared from the Google Play store on Wednesday after over 100,000 users had downloaded it.
The eNaira has two applications — eNaira speed wallet and eNaira speed merchant wallet.
Since the release of the applications, the app received negative reviews from Nigerians, who were disappointed with the tedious registration processes as part of the requirements
CBN releases guidelines for eNaira
It was, however, reported that Google Play could also remove an app from its store if such violated policies, including negative reviews.
Osita Nwanisobi, the spokesperson of the CBN, told the media on Thursday that the removal was to help the apex bank upgrade the app’s functionalities, which was lacking in the first place.
There has been this perplexity among intending users that this may go the same way other unprepared projects went in Nigeria.
