CDK, Sika, Bosch elevate craftsmanship at Nigeria tiler competition 2025

The grand finale of the Nigeria Tiler Competition 2025 unfolded in Lagos on May 13. It spotlighted the country’s most talented tilers in a thrilling showcase of skill, precision, and professional excellence.
Organised by Sika Academy Nigeria in partnership with CDK Integrated Industries Limited, Bosch, and La Roche, the competition followed a series of regional qualifiers in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Abuja.
Six finalists emerged from these contests: Moses Ayodeji Daniel, Hope Iroanya, Ogunlana Olayinka, Onu Emeka Thompson, Dickson Ime, and Mustapha Opeyemi.
In a high-stakes two-hour live competition, the finalists were tasked with tiling a mock wall and floor under the scrutiny of a live audience and a panel of industry experts.
Ogunlana Olayinka clinched the top spot and will go on to represent Nigeria at the African edition in Morocco, with the potential to advance to the global finals in China.
CDK Integrated Industries Limited, a core contributor to the event, provided high-performance porcelain tiles that met the competition’s rigorous standards.
According to Abimbola Onagbade, Brand & Marketing Communication Manager at CDK, the initiative reflects CDK’s broader commitment to skill development and capacity building in the construction sector.
“We are proud to support initiatives that promote excellence and empower artisans and professionals in the built environment,” Onagbade stated. “CDK remains committed to advancing quality and skill in the tiling industry.”
CDK’s porcelain tiles, known for their modern design and exceptional durability, were instrumental in the competition.
Available in a variety of sizes and finishes, the tiles exceed international standards with features such as 0.5 per cent water absorption and high resistance to stains, chemicals, abrasion, and thermal shock.
“These qualities made CDK tiles the ideal choice for a competition built on precision, durability, and aesthetics,” Onagbade added.
General Manager of Sika Nigeria, Adil Outgouga, lauded the collaborative efforts of all partners and commended the competitors’ craftsmanship, noting that Sika and its partners provided complete tiling solutions, from tools to training.
Okechukwu Anyibuofu, Distribution Manager at Sika Nigeria, lauded the finalists’ grit and resilience, while Gauthier Rabillier, Business Development Manager at Sika Africa, joined the panel of judges to evaluate the competition.
Ibrahim Jalo, Bosch’s After-Sales Manager and Expert Trainer, applauded the participants’ professionalism and encouraged them to continue upskilling to meet evolving industry demands.
Winner Ogunlana Olayinka expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organisers, “This means everything to me. It’s a dream come true.
“Winning at this level proves that hard work and consistency pay off. I’m thankful to Sika, CDK, Bosch, and La Roche for this life-changing opportunity. I look forward to representing Nigeria in Morocco and giving it my all.”
Beyond the competition, the Nigeria Tiler Competition 2025 stands as a testament to the power of partnership in promoting technical excellence and nurturing a more skilled workforce for Nigeria’s construction industry.
