The Chicago State University (CSU) has agreed to release the academic records of President Bola Tinubu if the request is granted by the court.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate for the 2023 Elections, Atiku Abubakar, had filed a case in a county court before withdrawing it to correctly file the suit in a federal court in Illinois, Chicago.
Atiku is challenging the result of the 2023 presidential election which was won by President Tinubu.
Responding to the suit, CSU said, “Finally, in the event the Court determines to allow any discovery to proceed here, the University urges the Court to direct only limited, targeted discovery on the University.

“As leave to issue any discovery has not yet been granted, and the Court’s views on what if any discovery is appropriate here under 28 U.S.C. §1782 are not yet known, it is premature for the University to raise objections to the scope of the documents and information sought in Abubakar’s two subpoenas.
The PDP, via its official X handle, said “Nigerians and members of the international community are eagerly waiting for this information as this will form greater part of the decision-making process of the petition before the court.”
Tinubu’s academic qualifications have been a topic of controversy before the election, along with his age, real name and work experience.
