A Cleric, Pastor Elijah Olusegun has warned youths against immorality as the Christmas festivity approaches.

Olusegun, who spoke with newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday, said that festive periods were marked by merriment and celebration.

He, however, said youths should beware of immoral acts, and advised that anything that would bring shame to the name of God should be avoided.

The cleric admonished Christians to look beyond wining and dining and reflect on the significance of the season.

“Yes, we should rejoice but with the fear of God, especially at this time when we are celebrating a precious gift given for our salvation.

“Love and giving should be our watchwords for this celebration; we should also reflect on the love God the Father has bestowed on mankind and dwell in that fellowship.

“I urge youths to avoid immorality, drunkenness, extravagance, and every other sinful form of celebration that can bring shame to the name of our God.

“The Bible says in Proverbs 20:1 that wine is a mocker.

“The Bible also makes us understand that sin is a reproach to any nation, so when you drink and become drunk, you are making a mockery of yourself and this does not please God, so we should be careful.

“I wish every Nigerian a Merry Christmas and a purposeful new year celebration ahead”, Olusegun said.
