
A 27-year-old cobbler, Babatunde Morakinyo, on Friday appeared before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing an Android Tablet and two pieces of the earpiece, valued at N271,000.
Morakinyo, who resides in the Mushin area of Lagos State, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which he plead not guilty.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Godwin Oriabure told the court that the defendant committed the offenses with some others currently at large on April 22 at 4.40 a.m., in the Iwaya area of Yaba in Lagos State.
Oriabure said that the defendant broke into one of Miss Chinenye Okeke’s apartments and stole her Samsung S4 tablet valued at N250,000.
“The defendant also stole two pieces of Samsung wireless earpiece valued N21,000,” he added.
He said that the defendant was caught, but his accomplices escaped with the stolen items.
Oriabure said that the offenses contravened Sections 287 (5)(f)of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The magistrate, Mrs. B. Salawu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Salawu ordered that the surety must be residing within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed with evidence of three years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Salawu adjourned the case until July 19 for mention.
