Nigerian lawyer and human right activist, Femi Falana has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to recover money from looters to solve the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Falana made this known in a statement during the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) protest in Lagos on Tuesday.
He said” enough of strike in our tertiary institutions, for Nigerians and for workers
“We want to thank workers, what you have demonstrated today is your capacity to take power in Nigeria and you must be ready.
“Let them stop deceiving our people that there is no money. A few of them, about 400 took loans from our banks, called them toxic loans, N5.4 trillion is owed.
“This government claim that they want to spend 6.5trillion on PMS importation, we are saying this fraudulent and unacceptable
“President Buhari collect money from 10 of your people, 10 looters to resolve this problem. One of them was charged on Friday. The man has stolen N109 billion, one person. There are those who have stolen more, there are those who are stealing more.
“We have more dollars than in Nigeria than America, America is a cashless economy. if they catch anyone with 1000 dollars cash, they are going to question the person.
“Henceforth the legal tender in Nigeria is naira and kobo, henceforth we are going to insist with collaboration with the labour union that nobody must spend dollar in Nigeria because it is illegal.”
