Following the controversies over the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Governor of Niger state has been empowered to take charge of the affairs of the party pending when Mai Mala Buni returned from his overseas trip.
The State Chairmen of the party at the national Secretariat of the party in Abuja according to reports said they administered the oath of office on the Governor to enable the affairs of the party to continue pending when the CECPC Chairman returns from his trip.
Making remarks over his declaration as to the chairman of the party, the Niger State governor, Sani Bello noted that the state chairmen decided to safeguard the interest of the party.

According to him: ” The States Chairmen they took their oath of office today and we discussed progress made so far on Convention and what needs to be done next so that we will achieve the March 26 date for Convention”.
Responding to questions in what capacity did he presided over the meeting”, he said: Acting Chairman, I have been acting for a while since the Chairman traveled.
On whether he can confirm the news that he has been appointed as the acting Chairman taking over from Buni?
” You said news. No comment”.
There have been fears whether the new date for the convention March 26th will hold as party members are getting agitated and worried over the way and manner the party is being run.
