The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, FCT Command, Peter Maigari, has promised to forge collaboration between Lawyers without Borders to achieve their primary objective of ‘No Torture and Maltreatment of suspects’ under custody.
Maigari made this declaration when he granted audience to lawyers without borders in his office noting that one of the core mandates of the corps is to maintain law and order saying that the corps maintains zero tolerance to torture and the Maltreatment of suspects under its custody.
He said amongst other responsibilities the corps also maintain 24 hours surveillance of all government infrastructure and sites.
He also revealed that the NSCDC issues licenses to private guards company and provide regular training and retraining for their employees.

The commandant assured that the NSCDC is a law-abiding agency and it prides itself in that.
The spokesperson of the team Angela Nwosu in her remarks said ‘Lawyers without Borders’ were seeking partnership with the corps to ensure that law and order are maintained in that regard.
Angela Nwosu opined that it was unlawful to torture and maltreat suspects under custody.
