An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Friday remanded one Moshood Bello, 51, for allegedly defrauding a man under the pretence that he will supply him 132,000 litres of petroleum product, valued at N11 million.
The Chief State Counsel, M. F. Faremi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in April 2013 at Ile-Ife, Osun state.
Faremi said that the defendant fraudulently obtained N11,220,000 from Alhaji Popoola Ogundoyin with the pretence to supply him 132,000 litres of dual-purpose kerosene (DPK), knowing fully to be false.
He added that the offence contravened sections 1(a),(b), 2 and was punishable under section 1(3) of Advance Fee Frauds Act 2006.

The defendant, who did not take the plea, engaged Mr Ola Ibrahim as his Defence Counsel.
Magistrate O.B. Adediwura said that her court lacked jurisdiction to try such a case, and ordered for his remand at Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional centre.
The case was adjourned until Nov 19, for mention.
