
An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Ibadan, on Tuesday remanded 32-year-old Oladele Ifatoki accused of rape at the Abolongo Correctional facility in Oyo town.
The Ifatoki of Alemuloke area, Sango, Ibadan, is facing a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and rape.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O. O. Ogunkanmi, who did not take the plea of the defendant due to lack of jurisdiction, ordered his remand at the Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo Town.

Ogunkanmi said the defendant’s incarceration was pending the outcome of the legal advice from the state Director of Public prosecution.
She thereafter adjourned the matter till May 18, for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Sikiru Opaleye, had told the court that the defendant and others, at large, allegedly conspired to commit the offenses.

Opaleye said Ifatoki on March 18, at 5:12 p.m., at Alemuloke area, Sango, Ibadan, allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of a 20-year-old lady without her consent.
He said that the offenses were contrary to Section 357 and 516 of the Criminal Code and punishable under Section 358 of the same code, Laws of Oyo State 2000.
