The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday debunked allegations that Nnamdi Kanu has been removed as its leader.
IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, maintained that Kanu is still the group’s leader.
Powerful told an online medium that those behind the claim were gossip mongers with no knowledge of IPOB’s hierarchy.
A report had claimed that Kanu was removed as the director of IPOB, and replaced with Sofia Chinyere Kalu.
Mrs Kalu is said to be the group’s financial secretary in the United Kingdom, UK.
According to Ezeji Chukwuma, a separatist who manages IPOB and Radio Biafra Community Interest Companies (CIC) Registry in London, UK, Kalu is the new director of IPOB Worldwide.
This claim was re-echoed by a self-styled disciple of Kanu, Simon Ekpa.
However, Powerful stressed that those behind the gossip would never know how IPOB’s operational strategy works.
He said: “They replaced him with who? Don’t mind these gossipers who don’t know what is happening in the IPOB hierarchy.
“IPOB is a decent and disciplined movement, and they will never in their life know how operational strategy works.

“There is no other leader we have except Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and no other person fits that position. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu remains our leader in IPOB, no matter any condition.
“Anybody who claims to be the new leader of IPOB should come out openly and do the work of a leader in IPOB; we are waiting for them.”
