JAMB restores CAPS, gives schools deadlines to conclude 2026 admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has restored its Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, following a temporary disruption, directing tertiary institutions to accelerate the 2026 admission process to make up for lost time.
JAMB, in a statement on Monday, said CAPS was “fully restored and is now operational,” urging institutions to intensify their admission processes ahead of the approved deadlines.
“With CAPS back online, institutions are urged to accelerate their admission processes to recover lost time and meet the agreed admission deadlines,” the board said.
JAMB said public universities must conclude their 2026/2027 admission exercise by October 31, 2026, while private universities have until November 30.
Other tertiary institutions are expected to complete their admission processes by December 31, 2026.
The board also urged candidates to promptly accept admission offers made to them through the system.
Following the release of the 2026 National Examinations Council Senior School Certificate Examination results, JAMB advised candidates who had previously been awaiting their results to upload or verify their credentials.
It said the step was necessary “to ensure their credentials are available for consideration as institutions intensify their admission processes.”
JAMB said it regretted the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and appreciated the patience and understanding of candidates, institutions and other stakeholders.
The board urged all institutions and candidates to take advantage of the restoration of CAPS and proceed with the admission process within the approved timelines.
