By Olusegun Olanrewaju

Ruling in the Rivers State House of Assembly crisis between the pro-Nyesom Wike members led by the Speaker Martin Amaewhule, and 24 others and the Governor Sim Fubara-leaning Oko Jombo group (comprising 5 other members) will be delivered today at the Port Harcourt High Court, by 9:00 am.

Billed to deliver the ruling are Justices Olukayode Bada Hamma Akawu Barka and Bilikisu Bako Aliyu.

Already, the court has directed that the counsels to the matter should be duly notified of the ruling through a delivery signed by Panshak Obed.

The notice on the appeal case letter reads: ‘’This is to inform you that notice on the above appeal have been slated for delivery through zoom on Friday, 14 June, 2024.

The case had taken a dramatic turn following a counter judgment between parties as a lower court presided over by Justice Okogbule Gbasam ruled that Speaker Amaewhule, and 26 other lawmakers are still members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The judge held that the claimants failed to prove that Amaewhule and the 26 lawmakers had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that ‘’defection cannot be established through newspaper publications, radio announcements, or online publications, as tendered by the claimants.’’
