Chairman of Nigeria National League (NNL), Mr. George Aluo has congratulated former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu on his appointment as the Director General of National Institute For Sports ( NIS), Lagos.
Shaibu was Friday 23rd of May appointed by the President to head the only institute saddled with the responsibility of producing coaches in the country following the expiration of the tenure of Professor Olawale Moronkola.
In his congratulatory message, Aluo noted that it was well deserved and that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu got it right again in sports appointment with Shaibu just like when he appointed Shehu Dikko and Bukola Olopade as Chairman and Director General of the National Sports Commission respectively.
“Shaibu’s appointment is round peg in a round hole. Shaibu is sports himself. As Deputy Governor he showed how passionate he is for sports and I am confident he will make NIS a sports institute to be reckoned with in Africa and the world.
“I have no doubt in my mind that Shaibu will consolidate on the achievements of Prof. Moronkola who also did well while in charge and I wish him a successful tenure as he begins the process of further transformation of NIS into one of the best sports institutes in the world”, concluded Aluo
