Victim Support Fund (VSF), a taskforce set up by Theophilus Danjuma Foundation to assist victims of COVID-19 and the vulnerable has donated solar powered borehole and other associated facilities to three Plateau schools.
Mrs Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, VSF the Chairman who spoke during the occasion said that since the inauguration of the taskforce on March 30, 2020, it has assisted many vulnerable Nigerians as well institutional support to agencies involved in the fight against COVID-19.
Akerele-Ogunsiji listed the items donated in the first phase of its interventions to include health facilities and Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) in the .
She explained that in the second phase of VSF interventions has provided solar powered boreholes, hand wash stations, reusable facemasks hand sanitizers and other items to some schools across the country.
In her words “Today is symbolic handover 4000 litres solar powered borehole to Plateau students, teachers and neighbouring communities.”
“Three schools across the three senatorial districts of Plateau are going to benefit from this intervention, which are GSS Federe, RCM Shendam and GSS Konbul.
“We are here to do the official commissioning and handover of this facility to the school as a measure to curb the spread of the second wave of the pandemic.
“We urged that this facility should be properly maintained for long term usage for the benefit of the community,” she said.
Gov. Simon Lalong who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Danladi Atu commended VSF for their interventions to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Lalong urged the communities and schools to maintain the facilities for better usage.
The governor during the event also urged schools to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocols to avert its spread.
