Noble Youths Mass Support Association (NYMSA), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has called on an unregistered electorate, especially the youths to register in the ongoing online Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in the country.
Mr. Godwin Onmonya, the National Coordinator of the group made this know to a news reporter in Kuje, Abuja on Monday.
Omonya said that the importance of the voter card could not be overemphasized in the development of the country, describing it as the only weapon that the electorate could use to choose leaders of their choice.
According to him, not registering and collecting the voter’s card will affect the electorate in the February 2022 FCT Area Council elections and 2023 general elections.
“By virtue of the Electoral Act and the 1999 Constitution, it is the responsibility of the citizens to obtain their permanent voter’s cards and vote candidates of their choice.
“This call goes to all those who turned 18 years within the period in review and your vote is your right, so, you have to be part of the registration to get the chance to vote.
“The call is imperative because apart from increasing the voting strength in elections, it is the only weapon the electorate can use to choose their leaders,” he said.
He said that the attainment of a good election was dependent on full cooperation and support of the electorate to play the political game according to the rules.

The INEC Electoral Officer of Kuje Area Council, Mrs. Zainab Gbefwi, said that the online registration would elapse on July 19, after which physical exercise would commence for possible corrections and verification before the cards would issue out.
Gbefwi said that the electorate should register only through the INEC approved registration portal to avoid any complications and setbacks during the exercise.
Our correspondence reports that the online registration exercise, which began nationwide on June 28, was to enable those who missed the last registration exercise and those who attained the age of 18 years to register.
