Former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Mele Kyari, yesterday reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, office in Abuja.
Kyari arrived EFCC’s headquarters at about 2:15pm.
He was invited to answer questions on financial and technical matters during his time in office.
It will be recalled that the EFCC had placed Kyari on its watch list over an ongoing probe into the $7.2 billion refineries’ turnaround maintenance.
This is just as the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered a temporary freezing of four bank accounts linked to Kyari due to allegations of fraud.
Kyari, who served as GMD of the NNPCL from 2019 until his replacement in July 2024, presided over a period of some reforms, including the transition of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation into a limited liability company.
