College warns students against cultism, social vices

Mr Isiaka Adekunle, the acting Rector, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, has warned the newly matriculated 2,381 students of the institution to shun all forms of social vices.

Adekunle, speaking on Wednesday at the matriculation ceremony of the institution in Igboora, urged them to also shun all acts of cultism and avoid joining unregistered societies.

The rector said that the polytechnic admitted students for both the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes for full-time and part-time for the 2020/2021 academic session.

“Out of thousands of qualified applicants that applied for admission into various the ND programmes, 1,160 applicants have been offered admissions into full-time programmes.

“Also, 566 others were admitted by the Directorate of Part-time and Preliminary Studies for National Diploma programme,” he said.

Adekunle said that membership of a secret cult, unregistered or society has been prohibited by the college.

“With the matriculation oath you have taken now, you must not belong, relate or associate with any secret cult group or unregistered societies throughout your period of studentship in the college,” he warned.

The rector reminded them that the college has zero-tolerance for examination misconduct and other related vices.

Adekunle enjoined them to be serious and committed to their academic activities to avoid temptations of involving in examination misconduct.

He also warned them against damaging the college or public properties in the course of protest or any other circumstances, saying that such would attract sanction and restitution.

“As an institution, we equally detest and frown at indecent dresses, sexual harassment, drug abuse, the act of prostitution, among others,” he said.
