The family of the Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, has announced his death.
Orbih died on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih on behalf of the family.
The family, in the Tuesday statement, described the deceased as a beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, saying his death was announced “with profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God.”
The statement read, “The family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announce the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026.”
Orbih is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih; his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his brothers and sisters, as well as other members of the extended family.
The family appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember them in their prayers as they mourn the loss.
“At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss,” the statement added.
The family said details of his burial arrangements would be announced in due course.
Orbih was a prominent member of the PDP and served as the party’s South-South Zonal Chairman.
In 2024, he was appointed Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, by the Edo State Government.
The appointment was contained in a statement issued by the then Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
